Need for industry-specific qualifications

Established in 1963, UDIA NSW is the leading industry body representing the interests of the NSW property development sector. UDIA (Urban Development Institute Australia) has a significant number of members across the entire industry including developers, financiers, builders, suppliers, architects, contractors, engineers, consultants, academics, and state and local government bodies. UDIA promotes the principles of responsible development, better planning, efficient land utilisation, and sustainability of resources for future generations.

UDIA wished to provide an industry specific qualification to its members on an exclusive basis. It had previously offered short courses and wanted to increase its offering to a full Qualification. UDIA was interested in developing and creating a Qualification by its members, for its members. There was also a need to ensure that students who were already competent in a particular unit could apply for credit for industry experience.

The qualification was uniquely designed and developed in partnership with Upskilled and the industry experts which form part of the UDIA membership base. UDIA, Upskilled, and UDIA members worked together to develop an optimal delivery method that best suited its members. A unique trainer with property development skills was mutually agreed upon, and allocated exclusively to the UDIA / Upskilled partnership.

All classes have been full since rollout of this qualification to the UDIA member base, and its completion rate is one of Upskilled’s highest nationwide. The course has recently been accredited with the National Project Management Institute of Australia. As a result of this success, this course is currently being rolled out to its national member base.
