Upskilling Management
Through its various subsidiaries, IOR Energy is directly involved in oil exploration and production, refining and fuel distribution. Founded in 1984, IOR Energy has built a reputation for innovation and practical technology to assist customers operating in remote regions where transport and operating costs are high and reliable supporting services problematic.
The Manufacturing Skills Queensland PPP Funding provided an excellent opportunity to test the benefits of Management Training for newly promoted managers. IOR’s managers had the experience, but wanted formalised training. This was especially important to their newly promoted managers. Fast tracking new skills and knowledge to ensure their new managers were ready to fulfil their roles and build the business was key to their success.
The flexibility of Upskilled’s training formats provided an ideal solution. Delivered in class format (1 day per month), Upskilled’s Management course enabled staff to study around a full time work schedule and busy home life. Students enjoyed quality contact with the trainer and also benefited greatly from group work and input from other students.
The training Upskilled delivered was Nationally Recognised, meaning employees received a Statement of Attainment for the Units of Competency they successfully completed.
LCC were also able to access the NSW Local Government’s Skills Strategy program which meant the training was fully funded.
The staff at IOR experienced an immediate positive impact in the workplace, reporting improved management skills such as:

• Enhanced conflict resolution methods
